Free Medical Camp Conducted at Athur Village

the occasion of the birthday of our beloved Chancellor on 24.08.2026, SRM
Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, under the Unnat Bharat
Abhiyan (UBA) scheme, organized a Free Medical Camp at Athur Village,
Chengalpattu District, on 13.08.2026.

The
medical camp was conducted as part of the community outreach activities for the
UBA-adopted village, Athur. Nearly 20 doctors from various medical specialties
participated in the camp and provided medical consultation, health screening,
and medicines to the villagers.

Around
100 beneficiaries from the village attended the camp and received proper
medical check-ups, specialist consultations, and necessary medicines. The camp
provided valuable healthcare support to the local community and was successfully

aegis of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA),

Community Medicine, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre,
organized a Free Medical Camp at
Guruvanmedu Village on 11/08/2026.
The programme was conducted with the objective of bringing accessible,
affordable, and quality healthcare services closer to the rural population and

A multidisciplinary team of doctors and healthcare
professionals from the SRM Medical
College Hospital &
Research Centre, headed
by Dr. Padmavathi.L, Associate Professor, Community medicine provided comprehensive medical services to the
residents of Guruvanmedu Village. The medical team included specialists from various departments such as General Medicine,
General Surgery, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, and Audiology. The presence of specialists from multiple disciplines
ensured that villagers of different age groups could receive appropriate

The camp provided a wide range of free healthcare services, including general
and specialist medical
consultations, measurement of height and weight, blood pressure monitoring,
blood sugar testing, basic blood investigations, general health screening, eye
examinations, health counselling and distribution of essential medicines. The medical team also
created awareness among the
villagers regarding preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, nutrition, healthy
lifestyle practices, and the importance of regular medical check-ups.

Patients who were identified with
health conditions requiring further investigation or specialized treatment
were appropriately counselled and referred to SRM Medical
College Hospital & Research Centre for advanced medical care and
follow-up. This referral mechanism enabled beneficiaries to receive continued
medical support beyond the camp.

The programme also witnessed the
active participation of students and volunteers from SRMIST, who assisted
in beneficiary registration, patient guidance, queue management, and coordination of various activities
during the camp. Their involvement contributed significantly to the smooth and
systematic conduct of the programme.

The medical camp received
a positive response
from the residents
of Guruvanmedu Village with approximately 106 villagers benefiting from the free
medical consultations, diagnostic services,
health screening, medicines, and health awareness activities. The camp provided an

doorstep.

The initiative also contributed
to the early identification of health concerns and encouraged villagers to adopt preventive healthcare practices. Through
medical screening and awareness

lifestyle.

The Free
Medical Camp at Guruvanmedu Village forms part of the series of medical
camps being organized by SRMIST under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan as part of the Hon’ble Chancellor’s Birthday Celebrations.

A multidisciplinary team of doctors from various specialties of SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, headed by Dr. Shakthi Chakravarthi, rendered comprehensive healthcare services to the villagers. The medical team comprised specialists from General
 Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 
Pediatrics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, and 
Audiology, ensuring holistic medical care for people of all age groups.
The camp offered a comprehensive range of free healthcare services, including general
 and specialist medical consultations, height and weight measurement, 
blood pressure (BP) monitoring, blood sugar testing, basic blood 
investigations, health screening, health education, and distribution of 
essential medicines. Eye examinations were 
also conducted for beneficiaries requiring ophthalmic evaluation, while 
patients identified with conditions requiring advanced medical care were
 counselled and referred to SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre for further treatment and follow-up.
Students of the Tamil Perayan Paari Manavar Narpani Mandram
 actively volunteered throughout the programme by assisting in 
beneficiary registration, patient guidance, queue management, 
documentation, and coordination of various camp activities, contributing
 significantly to the smooth and efficient conduct of the medical camp.
The medical camp received an overwhelming response from the local community, with more than 200 villagers
 benefiting from the free consultations, diagnostic services, health 
screening, and medicines. The initiative also played a vital role in 
promoting preventive healthcare, early detection of diseases, and 
awareness of healthy lifestyle practices among the rural population.
The Free Medical Camp Series, organized as part of the Hon'ble Chancellor's Birthday Celebrations, will continue throughout August 2026 in the adopted villages of Pulippakkam, Guruvambedu, Athur, Chettipuniyam, Kolathur, Anjur, and Old Perungalathur.
 Beneficiaries attending these camps will receive comprehensive medical 
services, and eligible participants will also be presented with 
commemorative gifts as part of the celebrations.
The programme stands as a testament to SRMIST's enduring 
commitment to inclusive healthcare, social responsibility, and 
nation-building through the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, bringing quality medical services closer to underserved communities and enhancing the health and well-being of rural citizens.
