    Massive Tree Plantation Drive-Anjur Village


    Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and SRM Institute of Science and Technology organised "Massive Tree Plantation Drive” on 5th October, 2020 from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm. 

     Dr.P.Vijayakumar, Associate Professor, Department of ECE, SRMIST, Convener of the event, welcomed the chief guest and the Anjur village people.


    Dr.T.RamaRao, HOD/Professor,Department of ECE, SRMIST, Kattankulathur was the chief guest for the event. Dr.B.Ramachandran, Professor, Department of ECE, SRMIST were on hand to inaugurate the Tree plantation drive. He spoke about importance of planting the tress, reducing the impacts of air pollution, natural noise barrier, arrest of land erosion, providing much needed shade during the day time, prevention of vehicle glare from vehicles coming from opposite direction, enhancement of aesthetic view of the corridors, climatic amelioration , defining of ROW especially at sharp curves during night.

    The gathering was also presided by Dr.V.Thirumurugan, Noodalofficier, UBA, SRMIST and Mr.Jayakumar, Ex-Panchayat President, Anjur village. Dr.V.Thirumurugan addressed the Anjur village people about Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and services offered to Anjur village people by SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur.

    Homogenous  avenues  of  trees  should  be  selected  for  long  stretches  as  it  provides  aesthetic  qualities  in  the landscaping. Taking into account the economic and other social benefits while selecting the species for plantation towards rapid growing and pest and disease resistant species. Dr.T.RamaRao, Dr.B.Ramachandran, Dr.V.Thirumuruganand Dr.P.Vijayakumar plantedvarious plants like  banyan tree, pipal tree, Portia tree etc. The villagers happily planted some more trees and watered the plants.
