Name of the Project: Contact less Thermometer and Touch Free sanitizer

Team Members: Dr.K.Kalimuthu, Dr.C.T.Manimegalai, Dr.Sabitha Gauni and Mr.JosephRaj PL, Dept. of ECE, SRMIST, Kattankulathur.

Project Scheme: UBA – SEG –COVID-19

    Short Description about the Project

Covid 19 pandemic situation has created an impact that an equipment like “Contact less sanitizer & Temperature detector” is necessary to be placed at public locationswith huge movement of human beings. This is a unique design, with two facilities integrated in it as the name implies. Itmeasures the temperature of the person standing in front of the equipment using an Infrared Temperature sensorand delivers 2 ml of sanitizer in the hands when it is placed below the sensor without any physical contact. The equipment is portable, movable and user friendly, weighing around 22 Kgs with 5 feet height. The wheels present at the bottom helps in mobilizing the equipment with less effort and the wheel lock keeps it fixed when required.

The sanitizer is stored in a 5 litre tank, made of ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) material that would avoid corrosion due to the chemical properties of the liquid. A sensor is responsible to detect the liquid level of the tank. It generates beep sound when the liquid level goes below 200 mL as an alert to refillthe sanitizer. A 12V battery backup is used that operates for almost 4 hours in the absence of main power supply. The amount of flow and throw speed of the sanitizer liquid can be controlled using a knob.

The Temperature detector displays the value either in Celsius or Fahrenheit format as per the choice using a switch. It is designed in such a way that its height can be adjusted which is useful to measure the temperature of different people with different height measurements. The temperature values higher than the normal values (i.e)above 99 F or 37.2 C,  will be displayed in Red color along with a beep sound. The recorded temperature details will be saved accordingly in a temporary storage device in the CST file format for future use.

He informed the NEP2020 would absorb arts and science, technical and teacher knowledge into its fold, replace several existing regulatory bodies, and ensure a level playing field for public and private players. He added this new educational policy is mainly student-centric and highly flexible. For students, the most meaningful change may be introducing four-year undergraduate degrees, with options for entry and exit at various stages, a credit transfer system, and abolishing the M Phil program. He insisted about the target for policy to transform the education system is about 15-20 years. The National Testing Agency will introduce a pilot version of the common entrance test, used for admission to all Institute of Eminences (IoEs) and central universities in 2021. A fruitful query clearing session started at 3 PM and he politely and confidently answered all the participants' questions with correct essential information.
