It’s basically a 3D printed head set design modified by students Harsh Mattoo and Anurag Atulya of SRMIST. The Acrylic sheets and other material was procured and is laser cut in Fablab and assembled. Design changes made as per request of the doctors. They made 550 3D printed face shields and donated it to SRM Hospital.
And Fablab has also designed the Automated AMBU machine to assist ventilation for SRM Hospital. The current global pandemic due to the Covid19 virus causes illness that can lead to a patient landing in Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) requiring Ventilation to assist in the recovery. There are not enough ventilators available in the government and private sectors combined and multiple efforts are ongoing to find a solution. Groups of scientists, engineers and doctors across the globe are involved in the testing, trying and treating of this problem.
After multiple
discussions with critical care physicians, anesthetists and pulmonologists, and
after reading through published literature on Mechanical ventilation, the
following solution is proposed as an Automated AMBU Bag.
