SRMIST Organizes Tree Plantation Drive to Mark the Hon'ble Founder Chancellor's Birthday Celebrations

As part of the birthday celebrations of the Hon'ble Founder Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), a Tree Plantation Drive was organized on 31 July 2026 at Srivari Nagar Park in association with the Maraimalai Nagar Municipal Administration under the aegis of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) – SRMIST and National Service Scheme (NSS) – SRMIST.
The programme was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Maraimalai Nagar Municipal Administration in the presence of the Municipal Chairman (President) and the Municipal Sanitary Officer, along with other municipal officials.
A total of 85 students, 18 faculty members, and 8 staff members from SRMIST enthusiastically participated in the drive. Together with municipal officials, the participants planted 300 tree saplings in public parks and Open Space Reservation (OSR) lands maintained by the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality.
The initiative was organized with the objective of promoting environmental conservation, enhancing urban green cover, and creating awareness about the importance of tree plantation among students and the local community. The programme reflected SRMIST's continued commitment to sustainable development and community engagement through collaborative initiatives with local civic bodies.
The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect and nurture the planted saplings, reaffirming their commitment to building a greener and healthier environment for future generations.
