<p> </p><h3><strong>SRMIST Organizes Tree Plantation Drive to Mark the Hon'ble Founder Chancellor's Birthday Celebrations</strong></h3><p><strong>Kattankulathur, 31 July 2026:</strong></p><p>As part of the birthday celebrations of the Hon'ble Founder Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), a <strong>Tree Plantation Drive</strong> was organized on <strong>31 July 2026</strong> at <strong>Srivari Nagar Park</strong> in association with the <strong>Maraimalai Nagar Municipal Administration</strong> under the aegis of <strong>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) – SRMIST</strong> and <strong>National Service Scheme (NSS) – SRMIST</strong>.</p><p>The programme was inaugurated by the <strong>Commissioner of Maraimalai Nagar Municipal Administration</strong> in the presence of the <strong>Municipal Chairman (President)</strong> and the <strong>Municipal Sanitary Officer</strong>, along with other municipal officials.</p><p>A total of <strong>85 students, 18 faculty members, and 8 staff members</strong> from SRMIST enthusiastically participated in the drive. Together with municipal officials, the participants planted <strong>300 tree saplings</strong> in <strong>public parks and Open Space Reservation (OSR) lands</strong> maintained by the Maraimalai Nagar Municipality.</p><p>The initiative was organized with the objective of promoting environmental conservation, enhancing urban green cover, and creating awareness about the importance of tree plantation among students and the local community.
