                                                        VAN MAHOTSAV 2026

SRM College of Pharmacy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, organized “VAN MAHOTSAV 2K26” on 15 July 2026 in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Maramalai Nagar Municipality, with the theme “Healing the Earth through Greener Initiatives.” The programme was organized to promote environmental awareness, nature conservation, and the importance of tree plantation among students and faculty members. The event was conducted with the support and guidance of Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director – Campus Life; Dr. V. Chitra, Dean, SRM College of Pharmacy; Dr. N. Damodharan, Vice Principal, SRM College of Pharmacy; and Dr. T. Lakshmanan, Professor and NSS Coordinator. The programme was also supported by the NSS Unit, SRM College of Pharmacy. The event was graced by representatives of Maramalai Nagar Municipality, Dr. Parameshwari, Commissioner, Maramalai Nagar Municipality and Municipality Health Officer, and Mr. Selvaraj, Sanitary Officer.

 

As a major green initiative of Van Mahotsav 2K26, a sapling plantation programme was carried out at Potheri Park, beside SRM Institute of Hotel Management, with the active involvement of faculty members and students of SRM College of Pharmacy. Various indigenous and environmentally significant tree saplings, including Veembu (Neem – வேம்பு), Magizham (மகிழம்), Mahogany (மகாகனி), and Kadamba (கடம்பா), were planted. The plantation initiative emphasized the role of trees in improving environmental quality, conserving biodiversity, and creating a greener and healthier ecosystem. The programme was coordinated by Dr. M. Jagadeesan, along with team members Dr. K. Manikandan, Dr. K. Gowri, Dr. K. Gayathiri, Dr. N. Sai Supra Siddhu, Dr. Krishna Prabha N, Dr. R. Rushendran, and Dr. Ch. Bharath Kumar. A total of 20 B.Pharmacy II Year students actively participated in the Van Mahotsav activities and contributed enthusiastically to the plantation programme.

 

As part of the celebration, an Art Competition was also organized at G4, Examination Hall, SRM College of Pharmacy, on the theme “Trees, Nature & Sustainability.” The competition aimed to encourage students to creatively express the significance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The enthusiastic participation of students reflected their commitment towards environmental protection and social responsibility. Van Mahotsav 2K26 was successfully conducted as a meaningful green initiative, strengthening collaboration between SRM College of Pharmacy, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and Maramalai Nagar Municipality. The programme inspired students and faculty members to actively contribute towards environmental sustainability and reinforced the collective responsibility of building a greener and healthier future.
