2. Objectives of the Event

The objective of the outreach program was to promote Health awareness among government school students through informative and interactive educational sessions. The program aimed to educate students on the importance of maintaining good health, adopting healthy hygiene practices, and developing positive lifestyle habits while enhancing cognitive thinking, teamwork, and social awareness. It also sought to strengthen the bond between SRM Institute of Science and Technology and the adopted village under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative. Through these activities, the program aspired to inspire curiosity, build self-confidence, and cultivate a positive attitude toward health, learning, and overall well-being among young minds.

3. About the Event (Description)

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, successfully conducted a Health Awareness Outreach Program on 30th June 2026 Government School, Neelamangalam, Kundrathur Block, Kanchipuram District, as part of its community outreach initiative.



 

The program commenced at 9:30 AM with a warm welcome extended to all guests, faculty members, and students. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. P. Muthu, Dr. T. Deepa, Dr. S. Sivaranjini (Convenors). Student volunteers from the Department of Biomedical Engineering actively engaged with the school children through interactive activities, making the program both educational and impactful.

Students from 3rd to 5th standard actively participated in the sessions, creating a lively and enthusiastic learning environment.

Activities Conducted

The outreach program comprised interactive and educational activities designed to promote health awareness, encourage active participation, and reinforce healthy lifestyle practices among school students.

  • Health Awareness Session
    • Educated students on the importance of maintaining good health, personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, and healthy daily habits.
    • Emphasized preventive healthcare measures and encouraged students to incorporate healthy practices into their everyday lives.
  • Health Habits Reading Activity
    • Students were invited to the stage one by one to read aloud the health tips and healthy habits presented in the awareness pamphlet.
    • Enhanced their reading confidence, communication skills, and understanding of essential health practices.
    • Reinforced key health messages through active participation.
  • Interactive Discussion
    • Conducted an engaging discussion on healthy lifestyle practices, hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
    • Encouraged students to ask questions, share their ideas, and participate in meaningful conversations, making the session informative and interactive.
  • Drawing Communication Game
    • Conducted a team-based drawing relay game in which a word was whispered to the first participant, who drew it on a sheet of paper placed on the back of the next participant without speaking.
    • The activity promoted effective communication, teamwork, concentration, creativity, and observation skills while providing an enjoyable learning experience.
    • The game fostered collaboration and active participation among the students, making the outreach session both engaging and memorable.

All activities were designed to be interactive and inclusive, ensuring maximum participation and engagement.

Distribution of Stationary kits and Refreshments.

A total of 49 students were provided with stationary kits.

Refreshments were also served to all participants, contributing to the cheerful and welcoming atmosphere.

The entire program was conducted in a joyful and interactive atmosphere, with students actively participating in the health awareness sessions, engaging in discussions, and enthusiastically taking part in the interactive activities. The event successfully promoted the importance of healthy lifestyle practices, personal hygiene, and preventive healthcare while fostering confidence, curiosity, and community engagement among the students.

4. Outcomes of the Event

·         Increased awareness of personal hygiene and healthy habits.

·         Enhanced students' knowledge of preventive healthcare.

·         Improved confidence and communication skills.

·         Encouraged teamwork and active participation.

·         Strengthened the university–community relationship under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
