<p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The Department of Architecture, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, in association with <em>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan</em> and the Directorate of Campus Administration, organised <span style="color: #38761d;"><b>a clay modelling workshop</b> </span>on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The workshop aimed to foster creativity, cultural appreciation, and hands-on learning among students through the art of clay sculpting.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">A total of <strong>140 students registered</strong> for the workshop. The first batch of 70 participants successfully completed the session this week, with a second batch of 70 students scheduled for next week.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><b>Dr.</b> <b>V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director – Campus Life</b>, Nodal Officer of <em>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan</em>, and Convenor of the event, welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of integrating art-based activities into academics for the holistic development of students.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Artists<b> Mr Saravanakumar and Mr Karuppusamy</b> led the training, demonstrating clay modelling techniques with a special focus on sculpting Lord Vinayagar idols. Under their guidance, students not only learned technical skills but also found creative inspiration.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"> As part of the concluding programme, <strong>certificates of participation</strong> were distributed by the convenor, Dr. Thirumurugan. Several participants, particularly from the E&T, the School of Public Health and the Faculty of Science and Humanities (FSH), shared their feedback, appreciating how the workshop enhanced their creative thinking and provided a refreshing break from routine academics.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strong>Ar. K.Kalaimathi</strong>, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, proposed the Vote of Thanks. Thirumurugan</strong>, Associate Director (Campus Life), SRMIST, and <strong>Ms. Emilly Priya</strong>, Assistant Project Officer (APO), Chengalpattu District – <em>Mahalir Thittam</em>, Government of Tamil Nadu.</p><p>Women from various <strong>Self Help Groups (SHGs)</strong> representing <strong>UBA–SRMIST adopted villages</strong> showcased a vibrant range of rural products. <p> <strong style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Kattankulathur, July 26, 2025:</strong></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><div dir="ltr"><h3><p>As part of the observance of the <strong>International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025</strong>, the <strong>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan – SRM Institute of Science and Technology (UBA-SRMIST)</strong> organized an impactful <strong>Cycle Rally</strong> to promote awareness on <strong>drug abuse prevention, treatment, and healthy living</strong> among students and the community.</p><p>The <span class="il">rally</span> was <strong>inaugurated by Dr. Senthil Selvan</strong>, <strong>Professor, Department of Civil Engineering</strong>, and <strong>Coordinator of the Anti-Drug Committee</strong>, who addressed the participants and flagged off the event. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of <strong>community-driven efforts</strong> in combating drug abuse and fostering a culture of wellness and resilience among the youth.</p><p>The event was <strong>presided over by Dr. V. Thirumurugan</strong>, <strong>Associate Director (Campus Life)</strong> and <strong>Nodal Officer, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan</strong>, who also <strong>distributed participation certificates</strong> to the students, faculty, and staff who successfully completed the <span class="il">rally</span>.</p><p>The <span class="il">rally</span> began at <strong>6:00 AM from the Clock Tower Circle</strong> and proceeded to <strong>SRM Care Farm at Gudalur</strong>, where breakfast was arranged for all participants, followed by the return ride to the campus.</p><p>The program concluded with a <strong>Vote of Thanks</strong> by <strong>Ms. Irene Sampath</strong>, <strong>Research Associate, School of Public Health (SPH)</strong>, who acknowledged the enthusiastic participation and the coordinated efforts of all departments and organizers.</p><p>This year’s <span class="il">rally</span> was conducted under the global theme:<br /><img alt="🎗️" aria-label="🎗️" class="an1" data-emoji="🎗️" draggable="false" loading="lazy" src="https://fonts.gstatic.com/s/e/notoemoji/16.0/1f397_fe0f/72.png" style="height: 1.2em;
