<i>National Nutrition Month 2025</i> on the theme <i>“Healthy Food, Healthy

included a puppet show on healthy eating, an awareness talk on diet and
lifestyle diseases, and chart displays on balanced diet, food safety, and
community nutrition. Interactive games further engaged students, with prizes
awarded to winners.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p data-end="775" data-start="370">The Department of Food Process Engineering, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, organized an <strong data-end="599" data-start="552">“Eat Right Challenge – Awareness Programme”</strong> for school students. The initiative was conducted with the aim of promoting healthy eating habits among young learners and encouraging them to make informed dietary choices.</p>

The department students</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">demonstrated and trained the participants on the usage of breadboards and how to establish</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">basic electrical connections. A clay modelling workshop

<p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The Department of Architecture, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, in association with <em>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan</em> and the Directorate of Campus Administration, organised <span style="color: #38761d;"><b>a clay modelling workshop</b> </span>on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The workshop aimed to foster creativity, cultural appreciation, and hands-on learning among students through the art of clay sculpting.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">A total of <strong>140 students registered</strong> for the workshop. The first batch of 70 participants successfully completed the session this week, with a second batch of 70 students scheduled for next week.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><b>Dr.</b> <b>V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director – Campus Life</b>, Nodal Officer of <em>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan</em>, and Convenor of the event, welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of integrating art-based activities into academics for the holistic development of students.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Artists<b> Mr Saravanakumar and Mr Karuppusamy</b> led the training, demonstrating clay modelling techniques with a special focus on sculpting Lord Vinayagar idols. Under their guidance, students not only learned technical skills but also found creative inspiration.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"> As part of the concluding programme, <strong>certificates of participation</strong> were distributed by the convenor, Dr. Thirumurugan. Several participants, particularly from the E&T, the School of Public Health and the Faculty of Science and Humanities (FSH), shared their feedback, appreciating how the workshop enhanced their creative thinking and provided a refreshing break from routine academics.</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><strong>Ar. Report on the Medical Camp Held on 08 August 2025

<p> The Department of Community Medicine, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, organized a one-day medical camp on 8th August 2025 as part of its ongoing community outreach program. The camp was conducted with the support of the medical social workers, health inspectors, and faculty members to provide accessible healthcare services to the local community. The initiative aimed at delivering free medical consultation, creating health awareness, and identifying patients requiring further hospital-based care.</p>
<p data-end="1186" data-start="612">The camp commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the registration of patients, followed by general health check-ups. The medical team comprised specialists from various departments, including General Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Surgery. In addition, paramedical staff and support teams assisted in ensuring smooth coordination of services. The atmosphere was well-organized, and separate counters were established to streamline patient flow. A special emphasis was given to maternal and child health, preventive care, and early diagnosis of chronic conditions.</p>
<p data-end="1924" data-start="1188">A total of 95 outpatients attended the camp, which included men, women, and children. Among them, a significant proportion were females, reflecting the active participation of women in availing healthcare opportunities. Pediatric consultations were particularly sought after, as parents expressed concern regarding common illnesses, nutritional deficiencies, and growth-related issues in children. Similarly, women consulted the Obstetrics and Gynecology team for reproductive health problems, antenatal guidance, and preventive screenings. The General Medicine team addressed cases of fever, diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory complaints, while surgical specialists screened for hernias, gallstones, and other surgical conditions.</p>
<p data-end="2556" data-start="1926">Out of the total patients, 36 were referred to the SRM Medical College Hospital for further investigations and advanced treatment. This referral system ensured that individuals requiring specialized care could be linked with hospital facilities without delay. Such follow-up arrangements are crucial in bridging the gap between rural populations and tertiary healthcare systems. The camp also provided an opportunity to spread awareness about hygiene, nutrition, family planning, and preventive health practices. Health education sessions were conducted in simple language to encourage the community to adopt healthier lifestyles.</p>
<p data-end="3026" data-start="2558">The camp concluded at 4:00 p.m. after successful completion of all planned activities. No untoward incidents were reported, and the program was carried out in a safe and efficient manner. The active involvement of the organizing committee, volunteers, and healthcare workers ensured the smooth execution of the event. The feedback from the participants was positive, with many expressing gratitude for the accessibility of specialized medical care in their locality.</p>

The <span class="il">cleaning</span> drive took place along the <strong>service road of Potheri <span class="il">Lake</span></strong>, located opposite the <strong>SRM IST Silver Jubilee Arch</strong>.</p><p>The activity was graced by <strong>Dr. V. Thirumurugan</strong>, <strong>Nodal Officer – UBA SRMIST</strong> and <strong>Associate Director – Campus Life</strong>, who welcomed all participants and appreciated their commitment to this noble cause of <strong>environmental conservation and community service</strong>.</p><p><b>NCC and Navy officers</b>, <b>Mr. Jegan, Mr. Sakthiprasad</b>, and <b>Mr.</b><strong> Senthilnathan</strong>, Coordinator<strong> of the MBA Green Club</strong>, also joined the initiative, setting an example and inspiring participants with their active involvement. </p><p>The drive aimed to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness in safeguarding <strong>public health and natural ecosystems</strong>. Volunteers worked diligently to remove plastic waste and litter, significantly contributing to the beautification and protection of the <span class="il">lake</span>’s surroundings. <strong>Gloves and <span class="il">cleaning</span> materials</strong> were provided, and <strong>refreshments and participation certificates</strong> were distributed as tokens of appreciation.</p><p>The event concluded with all attendees taking the <strong>Swachhata Pledge</strong>, reaffirming their collective responsibility toward a cleaner and greener India.</p><p>One student participant shared their thoughts:</p><p></p><blockquote><p><em>"This event has made me realize how important <span class="il">lake</span> <span class="il">cleaning</span> and the conservation of water bodies are.
