Chancellor, Dr. Paarivendhar, a transformative milk processing unit has been
inaugurated to uplift the livelihoods of rural women in Nattarasanpattu
village. This initiative, made possible through the collaborative efforts of
SRM Institute of Hotel Management and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan SRMIST, introduced a
milk chiller, paneer-making machine, and cream separator on November 2, 2023,
coinciding with the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Development

micro-enterprise for rural communities. He urged the local residents to seize
this opportunity for growth and transformation, envisioning the creation of a
Milk Society similar to the success story of AMUL in Gujarat. Mr. Selvaraj
assured ongoing support from his office for similar initiatives in other
villages adopted under UBA-SRMIST, expressing gratitude to SRMIST for its
meaningful societal contribution.

Mr. Sambasivam, the founder of Aram Seivom Trust, extended
thanks for SRMIST's consistent support over the past 20 years. He introduced
the members of the Self-Help Group responsible for managing the milk processing
enterprise, foreseeing its evolution into a cluster of businesses through
collaboration with government schemes and NGOs. Ms. Girija, the manager of his
trust, was introduced as a successful entrepreneur with contributions to online

Institute of Science and Technology, Faculty of Management, Kattankulathur

Activities:<o:p></o:p>

The
program was well-organized and included the following activities:<o:p></o:p>

The
event started with an informative session led by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate
Director, Campus Life, SRMIST and Dr. S. Pradeep, Assistant Professor,
Department of Civil Engineering, SRMIST. They discussed the ecological
importance of palm trees, their role in maintaining ecological balance, and the
threat of palm tree species due to deforestation and urbanization. In total 75
numbers of participants including Teachers and Students of SRMIST along with
Public were participated. The program witnessed active participation from both
SRM students and members of the local community. It was heartening to see a
diverse group of individuals, including students, faculty, and environmental

the awareness session, participants were divided into groups and provided with
the necessary equipment such as gloves, bags, and Sticks to collect the seeds. They

Palm Seed Collection Programme conducted by SRM Institute of Science and
Technology in association with ASCE SRM Student Chapter was a resounding
success. It not only contributed to the conservation of indigenous palm tree
species but also promoted awareness and community engagement in environmental

Poster
exhibition: An eating plan that helps promote
health and manage the body weight of the school kids that includes a variety of
healthy foods such as millets, vegetables, and fruits. An awareness on poor
nutrition that contributes to many costly diseases, including obesity, heart

Balanced
diet (Pyramid): An awareness to plan each meal around
vegetables and fruits through a food pyramid was provided. Students are advised
to look for ways to serve veggies and fruits whole, fresh and in combination
with other foods. To fill half of their plate with fruits and veggies along

Skits
and Puppet shows: A skit and puppet show was performed by
the students of Nutrition and Dietetics on 'Junk foods' that lack nutrients,
vitamins and minerals, and are high in energy, salts, sugars, or fats. Junk
food is so called because it doesn't play a role in healthy eating, especially
if you eat too much of it. An alternative healthy diets such as millets, green

A
special session on hand hygiene, importance of drinking water, having egg and
milk on regulat basis were educated to the students by the team from Department
of Biotechnology. Students were engaged with puzzles and questions on healthy
diet practices for day-to-day. There were about 200 school students
participated in the event. The

The International Nurses day  was conducted on 10/05/2023 Government Higher secondary school Anjur. The Program was organized by  NSS Unit, Department of Community Health Nursing, SRM College of Nursing and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, SRMIST. The local Panchayat President, Mr.Devaraj, Mr.Baskar, Head Master, Government Higher Secondary School, Anjur  were the guest of honour of the Program. 30 B.Sc(N) II year and DGNM I year(2Nos) students and faculty members Mrs.Geetha and Mrs.Vinitha participated in it. This Program was organized to inform the people about nurses' role and importance. <o:p></o:p>The program started with a warm welcome to all attendees, including nurses, healthcare professionals, administrators, and dignitaries. A brief introduction about the significance of International Nurses Day was given, highlighting the theme for the year. The welcome address by Dr.Vijayakumar Professor, ECE department, Special address by  Mr. V. Thirumurugan, Nodal officer UBA-SRMIST, Associate Director (Campus Life). To celebrate the diversity and cultural backgrounds of nurses, a variety of cultural activities were organized. Performances such as traditional dances, songs, and skits were showcased, highlighting the different cultures represented among the nursing staff. BSc (N) II year student performed Song, Skit and Handwashing dance and Special Speech about nurses delivered by DGNM-1st year students. At last, Mrs. Geetha delivered a vote of thanks. In connection with the My India Project for II year B. Sc Students (Maths, Physics and Chemistry), they were taken outside to UBA Adopted villages kolathur and chettipunyam to do a survey project under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Under the guidance of Dr.V.Thirumurugan Associate Director campus life and Nodal Officer of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan-SRMIST.along with 31 students, we started the trip from SRMIST Kattankulathur on 11/02/2023 at 8.50 AM. The forms were handed over to Mrs. Anju (Intern from School of Public Health) at the end, the students and the staff were provided with nice snacks and we all returned to the college by 5.15 PM.

The department of Food Process Engineering, SRMIST, KTR and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan-SRMIST conducted an Entrepreneurship Development Program on Processed Marine and Oilseed based Food Products to Empower Chengalpattu District Self Help Group Women, Tamil Nadu, In association with SANVIHA FOODTECH SOLUTION CHENNAI on the dates 16th and 17th of December 2022. The program was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Anjur village, Chengalpattu. He briefed about the label declaration, nutritional information to be followed while selling packed food products.The participants was fortunate to interact with successful Herbal product Entrepreneur Mr. Ashok and Mr. Roshan, CEO, Zeromeat a start - up.  Today the EDP was conclude with knowledge gaining starting from Food business idea, marketing, Government schemes, regulatory aspects. Tomorrow the same set of SHG women will be given hands on training at Department of Food process Engineering by Dr. G. Nagamaniammai and Mr. P. Murugesan on processed Marine products and Oil seed based products development.
