The Department of Biomedical Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, organized an Outreach Programme on Medical Health Camp on 7th October 2025 at the Adopted Village – Orathur. The event was conducted in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, under the Institution’s Innovation Council (Ministry of Education Initiative).

The camp aimed to promote community health and wellness by offering essential medical services and spreading awareness about preventive healthcare practices. The programme began at 9:00 AM and witnessed active participation from villagers, faculty members, and student volunteers.

Highlights of the Camp

  • Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, and BMI Screening

  • Doctor Consultation and Health Awareness Sessions

  • Preventive Health Guidance

  • Counseling and Referral Services

A team of doctors, biomedical engineers, and healthcare volunteers provided consultations and health screenings. Participants were educated on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preventing lifestyle-related diseases. The camp also emphasized early diagnosis and timely medical intervention.

This initiative reflected SRMIST’s commitment to social responsibility and rural development, in alignment with the vision of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 to bridge the gap between academic institutions and rural communities. The event successfully enhanced healthcare accessibility for the residents of Orathur and fostered a spirit of service among students.

Outcome

The Medical Health Camp benefited numerous villagers through free medical check-ups and counseling services. It strengthened the bond between SRMIST and the local community, reinforcing the institute’s dedication to societal well-being and sustainable health development.
