Solar Study Lamp Assembly Workshop

As part of the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations held today at SRMIST, Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at 9.15 a.m. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus Life), followed by the Swachhata Pledge administered by Dr. E. Poovammal, Director of Hostels.

Following the celebration, the Department of EEE (CET), in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (SRMIST), organized a Solar Study Lamp Assembly Workshop at UB, 5th Floor (Rooms 510, 511 & 515). Students from the Medical and Engineering hostels actively participated in the hands-on workshop and carried the assembled solar lamps home free of cost.

A group photograph with the assembled lamps was taken along with the Registrar and Associate Director (Campus Life). The event was conducted smoothly with the support of the maintenance and hostel staff.

Faculty participation included Dr. Sakthiprasad, NCC Navy Officer (FSH), Dr. Boobathi, Dr. Geetha, and Dr. Usha (EEE, CET), and Dr. Ramya (English, CET).

Our sincere thanks to Dr. E. Poovammal, Director of Hostels, and Dr. S. Sundarapandian, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy, for encouraging students’ active participation in the Gandhi Jayanthi event and for inspiring them to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi—simplicity, selfless service, and cleanliness — in their daily lives as a true tribute.
