Eye Awareness Program MEDICAL EYE CAMP - OUTREACH TO RURAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

 

The world environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet earth. It is a day that reminds everyone on the planet to get involved in environmentally friendly activities. From school children to community groups, companies, and governments, all come together to pledge towards building a greener planet.

SRM Muthucharam Community Radio and Department of Community Medicine in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and IEEE SRM Student Branch SRMIST has conducted Eye awareness program and Medical Eye Camp - Outreach to Rural School Student in Panchayat Union Middle School, Kolathur village on 12-10-2023.

The Awareness program was started by Welcome Address by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus life) & Nodal Officer Unnat Bharat Abhiyan/SBSI-SRMIST Coordinator-Environmental Management System SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur, Eye Awareness Talk by Dr. Abinaya, Department of Community Medicine. SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre SRMIST, Kattankulathur Special Address by Mr. B.R. Rajan Headmaster, Panchayat Union Middle School, Kolathur Prize Distribution by Dr. M. Sangeetha IEEE SRM SB Counsellor Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering SRMIST, Kattankulathur. Finally Vote of thanks given by Dr T. Kalaivani, Station Manager SRM Muthucharam Community Radio, Dr. R.M. Hariharan, Assistant Station Manager, Mr Kesavan Sound Engineer, Mr. Thairiyaraj Production Executive, SRM Muthucharam Community Radio also participated in the program.

Camp started in the morning at 10.00 am Awareness camp is totally team work which consist of medical and health professionals from various departments of SRMIST. Dr. Abinaya, Department of Community Medicine General medical camp comprises of Pediatrics, General Medicine, Dermatology Checkup were carried out. Totally around 100 students undergone general health checkup. All are treated with free consultation, medication, diagnosis. Patients who need further and regular checkups and treatments were referred to SRM general hospital provided with free treatment card. Free food is being given when coming for treatment in hospital. This regular camping will improve the health status of the village members and will be very helpful for the early detection, diagnosis and the treatment or therapeutic procedures. People who need medical care were referred to the respective departments and go through detailed evaluation and recommended for the treatment procedures. We covered almost all the households of the village and people got benefitted with the camp and showed their gratitude towards the doctors and health professionals.

The event organizers thanked Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus life), Dr. Abinaya, Department of Community Medicine, and her team for taking their valuable time to create health awareness among the school students.
