The
department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE), in
association with UBA SRM-IST, jointly organized an Outreach Program
on Imparting Technology to School Students of adopted
Chettipunyam Village at Panchayat Union
Middle School (PUMS), near Chengalpet on 10.11.23 (Friday), on
the occasion of National Education Day (November 11th). This
event, coordinated by Mrs.S.Sharanya,
A.P, Dept. of EIE, SRM IST and Dr.P.A.Sridhar,
Research A.P, Dept. of EIE, SRM IST falls in line with SDG 4 (Quality education) and SDG
7 (Affordable and clean energy). of learning new techniques and the art of practicing in real time. Convenor of
the event, Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus
Life), Nodal Officer, UBA-SRM IST addressed the gathering and briefed
about the activities of UBA cell, SRM IST. Mr.Joseph, Head Master (PUMS)
had acknowledged the services rendered by faculty and students of SRM IST under
UBA activity that works for uplifting rural education, during the inaugural

electronics and understanding the fundamentals of Arduino coding
for different real-time applications. The students had a hands-on session

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

The
Tree Plantation Drive at Kattur Village Pond, Kattankulathur, officially
commenced at 9:30 AM on Thursday, November 09, 2023. Mr. G. Manoj Kumar,
Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing Technologies at SRMIST,
extended a warm welcome to initiate the program.

The distinguished presence of
Thiru. Girichandran, R Councillor of the Maraimalainagar municipality, added
significance to the event as he assumed the role of Chief Guest. Thiru.
Girichandran.R. delivered a compelling address highlighting the importance of
the Tree Plantation Drive.<o:p></o:p>

Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate
Director (Campus Life) & Nodal Officer at SRMIST, along with Dr. Revathi
Venkatraman, Professor and Chairperson of the School of Computing, and Dr.
Pushpalatha M, Professor and Head of the Department of Computing Technologies,
graced the event.<o:p></o:p>

NSS Program Coordinator in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRMIST
KTR Campus, delivered a special address, emphasizing the crucial role that
academic institutions play in instilling social responsibility among students.<o:p></o:p>

A total of 52 dedicated Ctech
students actively participated in the Tree Plantation Drive Program, showcasing
their dedication to environmental conservation. Mr. N.S. Sridhar, UBA CELL
SRMIST effectively coordinated the event.<o:p></o:p>

EQUALITY<o:p></o:p>The meticulously organized Rally on SDG5 –
Gender Equality 2023 program, which took place at the SRM University Tech Park
on October 16, 2023, was flawlessly executed by the NSS Unit at SRM Institute
of Science and Technology, Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering, Kattankulathur Campus. Commencing at 3:00 PM on a Monday evening.<o:p></o:p>

The event received a warm welcome and
efficient coordination from Dr. M. Susila, Associate Professor in the
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Dr. T. Lakshmanan, NSS
Program Coordinator at SRM IST, who graced the event as the Chief Guest.<o:p></o:p>

Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director
(Campus Life) & Nodal Officer at SRMIST and  Dr Shanthi Prince Professor & Head honored

Eye Awareness Program MEDICAL EYE CAMP - OUTREACH TO RURAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

The
world environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global
awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the
planet earth. It is a day that reminds everyone on the planet to get involved
in environmentally friendly activities. From school children to community
groups, companies, and governments, all come together to pledge towards
building a greener planet.<o:p></o:p>

SRM
Muthucharam Community Radio and Department of Community Medicine in association
with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and IEEE SRM Student Branch SRMIST has conducted
Eye awareness program and Medical Eye Camp - Outreach to Rural School Student in
Panchayat Union Middle School, Kolathur village on 12-10-2023. <o:p></o:p>

The
Awareness program was started by Welcome Address by Dr. V. Thirumurugan,
Associate Director (Campus life) & Nodal Officer Unnat Bharat
Abhiyan/SBSI-SRMIST Coordinator-Environmental Management System SRM Institute
of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur, Eye Awareness Talk by Dr. Abinaya,
Department of Community Medicine. SRM Medical College Hospital & Research
Centre SRMIST, Kattankulathur Special Address by Mr. B.R. Rajan Headmaster,
Panchayat Union Middle School, Kolathur Prize Distribution by Dr. M. Sangeetha
IEEE SRM SB Counsellor Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication
Engineering SRMIST, Kattankulathur. Finally Vote of thanks given by Dr T.
Kalaivani, Station Manager SRM Muthucharam Community Radio, Dr. R.M. Hariharan,
Assistant Station Manager, Mr Kesavan Sound Engineer, Mr. Thairiyaraj
Production Executive, SRM Muthucharam Community Radio also participated in the

Camp
started in the morning at 10.00 am Awareness camp is totally team work which
consist of medical and health professionals from various departments of SRMIST.
Dr. Abinaya, Department of Community Medicine General medical camp comprises of Pediatrics,
General Medicine, Dermatology Checkup were carried out. Totally around 100
students undergone general health checkup. All are treated with free
consultation, medication, diagnosis. Patients who need further and
regular checkups and treatments were referred to SRM general hospital
provided with free treatment card. Free food is being given
when coming for treatment in hospital. This regular camping will improve
the health status of the village members and will be very helpful for the early
detection, diagnosis and the treatment or therapeutic procedures. People who need
medical care were referred to the respective departments and go through
detailed evaluation and recommended for the treatment procedures. We covered
almost all the households of the village and people got benefitted with the
camp and showed their gratitude towards the doctors and health professionals.<o:p></o:p>

SRMIST Kattankulathur Campus.     Dr.
Revathi Venkataraman , Chair Person School of Computing  Dr. M. Pushpalatha, Professor and Head of the
Department of Computing Technologies, and 
Dr. Annapurani Panaiyappan .K, Professor & HOD of the Department of
Networking And Communications at SRMIST Kattankulathur Campus honored the event.
 Dr. S Ushasukhanya., Assistant Professor
and Dr. T Y J Naga Malleswari, Associate Professor  in the Department of Networking And
Communication supported the program. A total of 150 students actively
participated in the Engineers' Day Awareness Rally program. <o:p></o:p>

"National Engineer's Day Awareness Rally." Finally, Mr. G. Manoj
Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing Technologies, expressed

As part of the great event, 150 saplings were planted on the banks of Potheri Lake on 23.07.2023, marking the beginning of the planting of 84,000 saplings, one of the major activities of the Chancellor's birthday celebrations. The bicycle rally started at 6:30 am from SRM campus clock tower and proceeded to Maraimalai nagar municipality via nearby villages and covered around12 kms .During the Rally we created awareness on single use plastic pollution and advised the people who were carrying plastic bags to not to use It and also thanked The Municipality workers for their wonderful effort to keep the city clean and returned to the university campus to raise awareness about the dangers of using plastic (one time using plastic materials).At the end students shared their experience from the rally and also thanked the University for the Wonderful Chance given to them for being a part of this societal cause. Finally the Vote of thanks was given by Mr.T.N.Suresh faculty from Department of Physiotherapy who was also the part of this Rally.Certificates were presented to all the students who participated in the event by Dr.Thirumurugan, Associate Director Campus. The event was coordinated by Dr. Supraja Associate Professor, Coordinator Universal Human Value Cell –SRMIST.

SRMIST under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme has been rendering the commendable service to the
society especially to the adopted villages. Apart from the adopted villages we
are doing Excellent service to the government schools. Recently we received a
letter on 17.02.2022. <o:p></o:p>

From Head Mistress,
Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Thiruporur requesting us to donate
desks and benches for their school children. Based on their earnest request,
our Nodal Officer Dr. V. Thirumurugan
visited the school and he suggested that we provide 20 desks and benches to the Government Girls Higher Secondary
School, Thiruporur. The rough estimate cost
for the desks and benches was Rs. 1,
29,840 /-

SRMIST delivered the desks and benches on 23.04.2022. Now the school students are utilizing the desks and
benches and are greatly thankful to us.<o:p></o:p>
