SRM students participate on awareness for single-use plastics
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan UBA – SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur and American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE student’s chapter have jointly organized a competition event to create awareness for elimination of single – use plastic. The awareness program of single use plastics 2021 was conducted online (English) and under this program three major competitions - speech, drawing, and essay writing were held.
Topics for all three competitions are: Essay writing competition - Lessons learnt from plastics; Speech competition - Is plastic for usage or eliminate? Drawing competition - The world and plastics.
Students from various branch of SRMIST (Vadapalani, Ramapuram, and KTR) actively participated in the program. More than 400 students participated in the contests.
Speech competition was evaluated by Prof. Kantha Devi Arunachalam, Dean, and Center for Environmental Nuclear Research. The essay competition was supervised by Mr. Raj Kumar Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Technology and evaluated by Mr. S. Pradeep Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. Drawing competition was supervised by Mr. S. Pradeep Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Ms. P. Mohana Sundari, UBA – Project Associate, Ms. A.T.Ranjini, and UBA – Project Associate and evaluated by Architecture Department.
E – Certificate were provided to all the participants. Prizes were given to the top three winners in all three competition.
