<p> <strong style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Kattankulathur, July 26, 2025:</strong></p><div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><div dir="ltr"><h3><p>As part of the observance of the <strong>International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025</strong>, the <strong>Unnat Bharat Abhiyan – SRM Institute of Science and Technology (UBA-SRMIST)</strong> organized an impactful <strong>Cycle Rally</strong> to promote awareness on <strong>drug abuse prevention, treatment, and healthy living</strong> among students and the community.</p><p>The <span class="il">rally</span> was <strong>inaugurated by Dr. Senthil Selvan</strong>, <strong>Professor, Department of Civil Engineering</strong>, and <strong>Coordinator of the Anti-Drug Committee</strong>, who addressed the participants and flagged off the event. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of <strong>community-driven efforts</strong> in combating drug abuse and fostering a culture of wellness and resilience among the youth.</p><p>The event was <strong>presided over by Dr. V. Thirumurugan</strong>, <strong>Associate Director (Campus Life)</strong> and <strong>Nodal Officer, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan</strong>, who also <strong>distributed participation certificates</strong> to the students, faculty, and staff who successfully completed the <span class="il">rally</span>.</p><p>The <span class="il">rally</span> began at <strong>6:00 AM from the Clock Tower Circle</strong> and proceeded to <strong>SRM Care Farm at Gudalur</strong>, where breakfast was arranged for all participants, followed by the return ride to the campus.</p><p>The program concluded with a <strong>Vote of Thanks</strong> by <strong>Ms. Irene Sampath</strong>, <strong>Research Associate, School of Public Health (SPH)</strong>, who acknowledged the enthusiastic participation and the coordinated efforts of all departments and organizers.</p><p>This year’s <span class="il">rally</span> was conducted under the global theme:<br /><img alt="🎗️" aria-label="🎗️" class="an1" data-emoji="🎗️" draggable="false" loading="lazy" src="https://fonts.gstatic.com/s/e/notoemoji/16.0/1f397_fe0f/72.png" style="height: 1.2em; Rally and a Solar Study Lamp Assembly Workshop on April 19, 2025, to promote
environmental sustainability and raise awareness about green practices among
students and staff. The rally was flagged off from the Clock Tower Circle,
following an inspiring address by Dr. N. Venkata Sastry, Director of the Career
Center, who highlighted the urgency of banning single-use plastics to safeguard

Forty-five students cycled to SRM Care Farm at Gudalur, where they planted
saplings after a healthy breakfast, symbolizing their commitment to a greener
future. The second session featured a hands-on Solar Study Lamp Assembly
Workshop, where participants learned about renewable energy and built
solar-powered lamps as sustainable alternatives to traditional lighting. The
success of the event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of Ms. Anju
(UBA Associate), Mr. Velmani (AME), Mr. Sridhar, and Mr. Rajendran (Maintenance
Department), who ensured the smooth coordination of all arrangements.
Participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their contributions to
