<p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The tree plantation is celebrated at Thenmelpakkam village,
one of the eight adopted villages by UBA-SRMIST, on 14th October 2020 at 11.00
am. The number of people in the village who attended the function is 515. The
celebration is presided by Mr. Elumalai, ExPanchayat President. He addressed
the clean air, water, health, and the service rendered by the SRMIST to uplift
the living standards of Thenmelpakkam village in the last few years. Further,
he added the people's responsibility to protect and care for the trees to get
full benefits. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the services rendered by
Nodal Officer, UBA-SRMIST team and SRM management.</p><p class="MsoNormal"> <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0cm;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Nodal Officer/UBA-SRMIST</b> addressed on the tree
plantation day, started with the talk on the importance of the village
"The future of India lies in its villages," as stated by Mahatma
Gandhiji. He addressed the UBA village adoption scheme and various activities
carried out earlier, like the modernization of the middle school with computerized classrooms, laboratory
facility, drinking water facility, health medical camps for the village people,
awareness program on plastics disposal, awareness on recent pandemic diseases,
the value of the trees for the health of the present and future generations.
Further, he thanked all for the help and support of people to reaching the real
benefits. He ensured the villagers of the resumption of the SRMIST students’
involvement in various activities in a few months. He thanked all for their
constant supports on implementing the UBA activities and SRM management readily
providing the necessary financial and infrastructure supports in addition to

local saplings is <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Dr. M. Cheralathan,
Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering, SRMIST</b>. The Chief-guest
spoke about the village's health as the backbone of our country, and SRMIST is
ready to supply the village's needs through UBA-SRMIST in all the aspects of a
healthy life. He added the essentials of healthy life and assured the students
and the UBA-SRMIST team’s participation to improve the quality life of the
villagers. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Dr. R. Senthil,</b> the Thenmelpakkam village
coordinator of UBA-SRMIST, addressed the ongoing activities and planned activities
under UBA-SRMIST. The speech was completed by thanking everyone by the team. A
quick refreshment has been done to all the participants. Then, the group
distributed tree saplings to the villagers, and then the tree plantation is
carried out by the team and villagers in and around the villages. The tree
guards protect all 500 trees. The entire team and villagers are involved
tirelessly to plant the trees. The school children of the village are actively
participated in the tree plantation day and we witnessed their keen interest
and involvements on care on environment.
