Environmental Day Celebration and Tree Plantation Drive at Anjur Village

 

On 27 May 2026, on the eve of World Environment Day, a tree plantation and sapling distribution programme was organized at Anjur Village, an Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) adopted village of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), in association with SKY Yoga.

The programme was graced by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director, Campus Life, SRMIST; Mr. V. Uma Maheswaran, Joint Director, VSP SKY Yoga, Kancheepuram Zone; Mr. Selva Kumar, Secretary, Guduvancherry MVKM Trust; Mr. Ragodhaman, Vice President, VSP; and Mrs. Selvi Devaraj, President of Anjur Village Panchayat.

As part of the environmental initiative, 50 tree saplings were planted in and around the village with the active participation of villagers and dignitaries. In addition, 100 saplings were distributed to village residents to encourage tree planting and promote environmental awareness among the community.

The programme highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable living, and community participation in creating a greener and healthier future. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from the villagers, making it a successful step towards enhancing the village's green cover and fostering environmental responsibility.
