 infrastructure and trained personnel. Children in these areas may not have
 access to regular eye checkups, making outreach programs a critical means
 of delivering eye care services.<o:p></o:p></li>
 <li class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">Many parents and teachers in rural areas are unaware of
 early signs of vision problems. Awareness programs help educate them on
 how to identify symptoms and encourage timely intervention.<o:p></o:p></li>
 <li class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; tab-stops: list .5in;">Good vision is essential for learning. Providing
 spectacles or appropriate treatment can dramatically improve a child's
 ability to participate in class and succeed academically.<o:p></o:p></li>
</ul>SRM Muthucharam Community
Radio, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat
Abhiyan, conducted an eye awareness program and outreach activity for
rural school students at
Panchayat Union Middle School in Orathur Village on March 19, 2025.

The Awareness
program began with Welcome Address by Dr T. Kalaivani, Station Manager SRM
Muthucharam Community Radio, Eye Awareness Talk by Ms G. Jothi, Lecturer,
Department of Optometry, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre,
Kattankulathur. Dr. R. M. Hariharan, Assistant Station Manager of SRM
Muthucharam Community Radio, delivered a vote of appreciation. Mr. Kesavan, Sound
Engineer, and Mr. K. Sathish Kumar, Program Assistant at SRM Muthucharam Community Radio Station, also attended the program.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>Dr. G. Jothi
from the Department of Optometry conducted an examination with postgraduate
students. Approximately 50 students underwent comprehensive eye examinations.
All individuals receive complimentary consultations and diagnoses. Students
requiring further examinations and treatments were directed to SRM General
Hospital and issued a complimentary treatment card. This annual camping
excursion will enhance the health of rural kids and facilitate early detection,
