SWACHHTHA HI SEVA 2023 MARAIMALAI NAGAR

 


The SWACHHTHA HI SEVA 2023 event, held on September 22, 2023, at Ninnakarai Pond in Maraimalainagar, was impeccably organized and executed by the NSS Unit at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Faculty of Management, Kattankulathur Campus. Commencing at 9:00 AM on a Friday morning, the event was warmly welcomed and coordinated   Dr. K. Maheswari, the NSS Program Officer and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Management.

The event's true highlight was the distinguished presence of Thiru.Sanmugam .J, Chairman of the Maraimalainagar municipality, who served as the Chief Guest and delivered a captivating address on the topic of "SWACHHTHA HI SEVA."

Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus Life) & Nodal Officer SRMIST, .Dr.V.M. Shenbagaraman Dean (College of Management)  SRMIST Kattankulathur and Dr.A.Gajendran, Assistant Professor and Head SRMIST Kattankulathur honoured the event.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Dr. T. Lakshmanan, NSS Program Coordinator and Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRMIST Kattankulathur Campus gave a special address on impact dumping waste on the roads. Mr.N.S.Sridhar and Ms.Anju.J ,  UBA coordinator coordinated the Event  .It's worth noting that the event received esteemed participation from 50 BBA students

Engineer’s Day Awareness Rally

 

                                            Engineer’s Day Awareness Rally

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Unit at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in collaboration with and NSS CELL SRMIST and School of Computing  SRMIST Kattankulathur campus, executed the National Engineer's Day Awareness Rally with the theme "Engineering Innovations for a Resilient World" on September 19th, 2023. This insightful program took place at the SRM University campus in Kattankulathur, starting at 3:00 PM that Friday.



 The event commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. T. Lakshmanan, NSS Program Coordinator, and Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRMIST Kattankulathur Campus.     Dr. Revathi Venkataraman , Chair Person School of Computing  Dr. M. Pushpalatha, Professor and Head of the Department of Computing Technologies, and  Dr. Annapurani Panaiyappan .K, Professor & HOD of the Department of Networking And Communications at SRMIST Kattankulathur Campus honored the event.  Dr. S Ushasukhanya., Assistant Professor and Dr. T Y J Naga Malleswari, Associate Professor  in the Department of Networking And Communication supported the program. A total of 150 students actively participated in the Engineers' Day Awareness Rally program.

Chief Guest, Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Nodal Officer of SRMIST, who delivered a captivating address on the topic of "National Engineer's Day Awareness Rally." Finally, Mr. G. Manoj Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing Technologies, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the contributions to the event's success.

The standout feature of the event was the students' volunteer-made chart illustrating the process of selecting one of the United Nations' 17 goals ( No poverty, Zero Hunger, Good health and weel being, Quality education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation , Affordable and clean energy , Decent work and economic growth, Industry, innovation and infrastructure, Reduced inequalities, Sustainable cities and communities, Responsible consumption and production, Climate action, Life below water, Life on land, Peace, justice, and strong institutions and Partnerships for the goals) and innovative solutions for achieving the same.

REPORT - OUTREACH PROGRAMME Awareness on Self Health and Hygiene the for School




 The Dept of C.Tech,ECE & UBA  , SRM University has  organized an outreach programme for Panchayat union middle school ,Orathur,  to create awareness on Self Health and Hygiene the for the students on 12/09/2023 & 13/09//2023 of  all classes. The event started at 10:00 a.m for a total of 129   students, 30 students  per class.  The outreach program was inaugurated by Dr.V.Thirumururgan , Associate Director (CL) , A talk was given by Dr.T.Deepa, Associate Professor, followed by Dr.K.vijaya and Dr.M.Baskar. On behalf of the Dept of C.Tech , a 120 pages notebook and a Pen was donated for the 129 school students with the cost of  Rs. 4550.The self health and hygiene session was handled by  Dr.K.Vijaya and Dr.M.Baskar with the student volunteer team on 12/09/2023 FN session and Dr.S.Krubha and Mr. Ariganapathy  handled the session on 12/09/2023 AN session.  13/09/2023 FN session was handled by Dr. K.Vijaya and Dr.K.M.Umamaheswari with the student volunteering team , The 13/09/2023 AN session was handled by Dr.S.Krubha and Mr. Ariganapathy with the student volunteering team , they explained  the  various importance of health and self hygiene to the students .




After each session  presentation refreshments  and complements were provided to all the participants.   Interaction session with the participants was appreciated by the Headmistress. The programme ended by 3.30 p.m, on 13/09/2023.Vote of thanks was given by Dr. M. Baskar, Associate Professor, Dept of C.Tech.

SRMIST- UBA in association with ASCE SRM Student Chapter Conducted a Massive Palm Seed Collection Programme on 09.09.2023

SRM Institute of Science and Technology - Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 in association with ASCE SRM Student Chapter Conducted a Massive Palm Seed Collection Programme on 09.09.2023

On September 9, 2023, the SRM INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY and UBA SRMIST 2.0, in collaboration with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) SRM Student Chapter, organized a massive Palm Seed Collection Programme as part of the Chancellor 84th birthday celebration. The program aimed to contribute to environmental conservation, promote biodiversity, and raise awareness about the importance of preserving indigenous Palm tree species.

Program Activities:

The program was well-organized and included the following activities:

The event started with an informative session led by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director, Campus Life, SRMIST and Dr. S. Pradeep, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, SRMIST. They discussed the ecological importance of palm trees, their role in maintaining ecological balance, and the threat of palm tree species due to deforestation and urbanization. In total 75 numbers of participants including Teachers and Students of SRMIST along with Public were participated. The program witnessed active participation from both SRM students and members of the local community. It was heartening to see a diverse group of individuals, including students, faculty, and environmental enthusiasts, come together to contribute to this noble cause.

After the awareness session, participants were divided into groups and provided with the necessary equipment such as gloves, bags, and Sticks to collect the seeds. They have collected around 10000 seeds from the Lake bunds.

The Palm Seed Collection Programme conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology in association with ASCE SRM Student Chapter was a resounding success. It not only contributed to the conservation of indigenous palm tree species but also promoted awareness and community engagement in environmental initiatives. We are confident that such events will continue to make a positive impact on our environment and society.

UBA-SRMIST celebrated the National Nutrition Month 2023 under the theme of Healthy Diet Affordable to all on 8.09.2023

 

Report on National Nutrition Month 2023

UBA-SRMIST celebrated the National Nutrition Month 2023 under the theme of Healthy Diet Affordable to all on 8.09.2023. The programme was organized by Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre and Department of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering, SRMIST Kattankulathur. The various activities conducted by the team are as follows:


Poster exhibition: An eating plan that helps promote health and manage the body weight of the school kids that includes a variety of healthy foods such as millets, vegetables, and fruits. An awareness on poor nutrition that contributes to many costly diseases, including obesity, heart disease, and some cancers were also provided to the students.



Balanced diet (Pyramid): An awareness to plan each meal around vegetables and fruits through a food pyramid was provided. Students are advised to look for ways to serve veggies and fruits whole, fresh and in combination with other foods. To fill half of their plate with fruits and veggies along with meals.



Skits and Puppet shows: A skit and puppet show was performed by the students of Nutrition and Dietetics on 'Junk foods' that lack nutrients, vitamins and minerals, and are high in energy, salts, sugars, or fats. Junk food is so called because it doesn't play a role in healthy eating, especially if you eat too much of it. An alternative healthy diets such as millets, green vegetable and fresh fruit juices were prescribed to the students.



A special session on hand hygiene, importance of drinking water, having egg and milk on regulat basis were educated to the students by the team from Department of Biotechnology. Students were engaged with puzzles and questions on healthy diet practices for day-to-day. There were about 200 school students participated in the event. The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Samuel Jacob, Dr.K.Silambu Selvi and their team,  Dr.S.Rupachandra and Mr. Sridhar N S, UBA SRMIST.
