The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan – SRMIST had organized Tree plantation event at its adopted village Pattravakkam on 22nd September 2020. The UBA team volunteers took nearly 100 saplings to the plantation place. The first sapling was planted by Dr. K. Vijayakumar, Head of the Department, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. He addressed the villagers and the UBA team members about the importance of trees for a eco friendly environment. Following him the faculty members Dr. K. Selvakumar /EEE, Dr. D. Karthikeyan /EEE, Dr. R. Palanisamy /EEE, Mr. D. Selvabharathi planted the saplings.
Dr. R. Sridhar, Associate Professor, EEE Department the UBA coordinator for Pattravakkam village thanked the panchayat secretary Mr. Manavalan and other villagers for the arrangements they had made for tree plantation.
The sanitary officials of SRMIST Mr.N. S. Sridhar and Mr. Kanmani apprised the villagers about the maintenance of the saplings and how to nurture it in the coming weeks. Many other UBA volunteers helped the proceedings.
